The city of Lincoln offers an independent boutique shopping experience together with great history, arts and lots of good places to eat and drink. The city boasts an impressive cathedral of Gothic architecture which was the tallest building in the world for over 200 years. It is also home to the 11^th century Lincoln Castle built by William the Conqueror, on the site of a pre-existing Roman fortress and has the unusual feature of two mottes. Hemswell Antique Centres is renowned as the largest antiques centre in Europe. The site houses four buildings and two coffee shops with thousands of antiques and collectables to choose from.
